Red Sox Win Thriller, 4-3
|
Los Angeles got a terrific performance from pitcher Gerrit Cole, but it wasn't enough to beat the Memphis Red Sox. Memphis won the Fenway Park contest, 4-3. Cole threw 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Memphis, at 33-44, sits in last place in the AL Bill James Division.
The game came to a dramatic end. In the bottom of the ninth, with Memphis trailing 3-2, David Justice hit a fastball from Harry Howell for a 2-run home run, giving the Red Sox the walk-off win.
Justice attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
