The Baltimore Black Sox and Memphis Red Sox played an entertaining game for Fenway Park patrons.

The Baltimore Black Sox defeated the Memphis Red Sox, 5-4, at Fenway Park. Bobby Wallace was a standout performer for Baltimore. His 3 hits included 1 single and 2 doubles -- this in addition to the 1 run he scored and 1 he knocked in. Bill Byrd, who finished 2nd in the AL in ERA with 3.33 last year, was the winner in relief. His record is now 5-3. The losing pitcher was Andrew Miller. Joe Beggs was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 16 of 17 save opportunities.

Frank Robinson came through with a big-time hit for Baltimore. The left fielder smacked a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to give his team the lead, 5-4. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"It was a good effort all around," said Robinson.

The last-place Black Sox are now 40-53, the Red Sox 44-47.
