Red-Hot Welch Cools Off Brooklyn
Monday, April 15th , 2002
Kansas City's Mickey Welch brought his best stuff to Muehlebach Field 1923-1941, shutting down and shutting out the Brooklyn Royal Giants, 4-0. He racked up 8 strikeouts, surrendered 2 hits, and issued 2 walks on his way to the victory.
"We barely made him work at all," Brooklyn manager Daniel Makonnen said later. "Kansas City could probably pitch him again tomorrow if they wanted."
